William A. Graham served as Dean of Harvard Divinity School from 2002 to 2012, when he stepped down to return to research and teaching. He has been a member of the Harvard Faculty of Arts and Sciences since 1973 and was a member of the Faculty of Divinity from 2002 to 2018. He has served as director of the Center for Middle Eastern Studies, Master of Currier House, and chair of the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations, the Committee on the Study of Religion, and the Core Curriculum Committee on Foreign Cultures at Harvard. He is also former chair of the Council on Graduate Studies in Religion (North America).
